Notes &
Wheeler/Plante Wedding…part two!
You’d think it would be hard to top a rehearsal dinner like this couple had, but sure enough, they found a way. The next few entries will break down their reception at the Log Cabin, bit by bit. First…the decor and set up.
This summer wedding needed a theme that would wow the guests in attendance. At most any banquet facility, you have the standard centerpieces, chairs, set up, etc. The weddings are interchangeable in the setting. That isn’t the case at the Log Cabin, especially with this couple.

If the above pictures of the pre-wedding set up don’t shout personality I’m not sure what does. The charisma and shine of this couple comes through without them even being present.
Pink can be a hard color to use in a wedding. Many think it will make it too “barbie”, but here, it’s done just right. The wine-colored organza sashes bring a summery, Caribbean feel with the help of the bright centerpieces, lanterns and up-lighting. While the room is bright and beaming, it’s not overdone. That’s the sign of people who know what they’re doing! The pink and other bright colors are done just right. Besides the sashes, you’ll notice that these tables don’t just have a plain white tablecloth. Instead, a lace overlay gives that just different look, separating this wedding from the norm.
Another thing I absolutely love is the square tables! Many people don’t realize that they have the ability to change things. Some places might not allow such freedom, but the Log Cabin definitely does. Instead of all rounds, there was this square table set for fourteen, also. Another great centerpiece here as well (all of the centerpieces and lanterns were provided by Durocher Florist in West Springfield…always do great work!)
Currently, many couples are opting out of having a long head table, and instead turning to a sweetheart table for just themselves. These newlyweds did that as well.

The sweetheart table is a great way to keep the focus on you and your new spouse. It also gives you some semi-alone time, if that’s even really possible at a wedding. Enjoying each other at least through dinner is a great way to start your new life, and avoid the yelling conversations across the head table. The head table can be good for some, but the sweetheart table is a trend to definitely take advantage of right now.
This wedding is only getting better and better! Stay tuned for the next post where I’ll be continuing with this reception talking about the social hour!
