Falvo/Labarre Wedding

In theme with our fall weddings, I have yet another to share. This big wedding at the Log Cabin was full of fun fall decor, and took place in the Grand Edna Williams Ballroom on October 17, 2010.

The first thing I definitely need to talk about is the decor! This wedding was full of pumpkins…97 of them, in fact! Located on the bar, gift table, windows, and all around, not one guest was confused about the theme of this wedding! The centerpieces were silk wreathes and, of course, pumpkins with table numbers carved into them. A unique way to create a centerpiece and table number holders, this is a great fall trend! All tables also featured a pumpkin-colored runner to offset the white table cloths, and tie into the fall theme.

That isn’t all for the pumpkins though! The couple also had 7 pumpkins that spelled out “LABARRE” situated at the head table, accompanied by “Daniela” and “Josh” pumpkins, and pumpkins saying “bride” and “groom” for the respective family tables.

[So many pumpkins!]

With the room decked out in fall decor, what did the guests eat? Starting with the social hour, the 6 hour open bar started, and guests were greeted with passed hors d’oeuvres of beef teriyaki with pineapple, fried mozzarella sticks with marinara sauce, lobster risotto balls, mini chicken cordon bleu, mini Philly cheese steak, and scallops wrapped in bacon. Aside from the Special Welcome that we see at many weddings, this wedding also had an Antipasto Display featuring prosciutto, salami, sopresatta, mortadella, provolone, fontina, mozzarella, portobello mushrooms, roasted peppers, pepperoncini, and various breads including focaccia and Italian bread.

Moving on to the main dinner, guests were seated at their pumpkin adorned tables and greeted with a bottle of red and white wines and champagne for the toast. They were then served the signature bread, followed by the appetizer of Italian wedding soup, and the salad of mesclun salad, prepared table side with the house vinaigrette.

The next course was the pasta course. Penne pasta was tossed in the client’s own red sauce! Don’t forget that if you have a family dish you love and want to incorporate in your wedding, the staff at the Log Cabin will certainly accommodate!

For the main entrees, there were choices of a surf and turf featuring filet Mignon with a Cabernet demi glaze accompanied by baked stuffed jumbo shrimp and served with drawn butter. For the poultry dish, it was maple turkey (a fall favorite, of course!) pan seared and finished in a whole grain mustard-maple sauce, with home style mashed potatoes, stuffing, and cranberry sauce. All dishes were served with fresh green beans with caramelized onion. And the surf and turf was served with mashed red bliss potatoes with roasted garlic.

The wedding cake was accompanied by a Viennese Table including chocolate, carrot, and cheese cakes with assorted toppings, layer mousse cake, pecan pie, tiramisu, a variety of trifles and mousses, bananas Jamaican-style, build your own ice cream sundae, and a candy display featuring halloween-type candy!

[Check out that cake!]

After dinner guests also had the option of taking advantage of the international coffee station featuring espresso, cappuccino, flavored specialty coffee drinks with assorted liqueurs, coffee, tea and decaf.

Entertainment for the evening was provided by Marx Entertainment who brought a green screen for guests to take great photos in front of, and Robert Charles Photography who captured all of the spectacular moments. Check some of the green screen photos out below!

Guests enjoyed this unexpected addition to the wedding, and had a spectacular time throughout the evening!
