Burgess/Vight Wedding: The Reception

After a perfect outdoor ceremony, it was time for the reception. As guests made their way into the Easthampton room, they were greeted with the signature “Special Welcome” which includes a display of domestic and imported cheeses, fresh fruit, vegetables and dip, snack mix, and a variety of crackers. This all surrounded an ice sculpture which was specially designed by the groom, Josh!

Guests were also greeted with a memorial table abutted to the gift table, another great way to remember loved ones. As for the rose that was at the ceremony in rememberance of April’s father, that was placed in a vase right at her place setting.

The first dance was choreographed, and went off without a hitch…

What about the menu? Well, there was of course the Log Cabin’s signature bread, house garden salad prepared tableside with a house vinaigrette. As for the entrees, there was Chicken Marsala, Herb and Cheese Cncrusted Swordfish with Picatta Sauce, and Roast Prime Rib of Beef Au Jus. These were accompanied by carrots in Tarragon butter and sour cream and chive mashed potatoes.

They also offered a vegetarian option of Wild Mushroom Ravioli with Spinach and Artichoke Cream Sauce. The children were served Chicken Tenders and French Fries, and for dessert the guests received Chocolate Covered Strawberries, served with the wedding cake (done by Cakes by Deborah)…

As far as the rest of the evening, well, it was anything but boring. Josh performed a “Footloose” dance for April when it was time to remove the garter, while the children were occuppied by an activity table filled with crayons and coloring books.

Though the wedding itself is a special occasion, this couple took the time to celebrate a few other things throughout the evening. For instance, there were five birthdays celebrated! Each “guest of honor” was asked to the dance floor, and received a cupcake and were sang “Happy Birthday” to.

There was also a 45th wedding anniversary for April’s great Aunt and Uncle where the DJ (Tom McCusker of Knight Productions) played Clint Black’s ” Something That We Do.” This moment was extra special because April’s great aunt has been fighting cancer, and was strong enough to attend the wedding.

As for decor, the flowers were provided by Durocher’s Florist, and there was tulle and lights hung over the dance floor, done by the bride’s family. A great thing a lot of people don’t always look into is doing some parts of the wedding themselves! It’s a great way to work with a budget and make the wedding exactly what you envision!

All in all, the evening was a great success, and Portraits by David was there to capture every special moment, including the sunset!

CONGRATULATIONS MR. AND MRS. VIGHT!
