The Ones Who Can’t See Over the Bar

So, you’ve made the decision to invite children to your wedding. Now what? It’s hard to say how you can make the kids feel just as included as the adults, but really, it’s as simple as a few things.

First, the menu choices. Kid-friendly options will make little ones’ eyes light up. While adults may be drooling over gorgonzola sirloin, these words will make a kid go, “Yuck!”

So what will make these usually picky eaters happy? Think about choices like mini chicken or beef sliders, chicken fingers, and macaroni and cheese. French fries are always a good option, but there is always the possibility of healthier options like apple sauce, corn on the cob, and a good ol’ vegetable medley.

Once you have your menu choices, what about the drinks? Weddings are usually a time for adults to let loose and have trip or two to the bar. But what about those darn kids? There’s the obvious Shirley Temple, juice, or soda on this special occasion, but how to make it extra special? A non-alcoholic “kids only” drink.

A recent drink that’s been used for events at the Log Cabin is the smoothie. It’s sweet and yummy and kids love it! The flavors vary, from berry to mango to coconut, or any mixture of these or others. Not only the kids, but the parents will love that their children have been thought of, and these kids will be talking about your wedding until the day their own happens!

There are plenty of ways to include the kids on your big day, what have you done? Tell me your ideas or share your questions!
