The Mick: A Family Affair
This past weekend, myself and a group of family members went to The Mick for dinner. Handling a group of 8 lively individuals can sometimes be a hard task. However, the waitress and her trainee did a great job. Things were busy, and they kept their cool the entire time. Many of us ordered off of the Prix Fixe menu, which is an amazing deal! Soup or salad, entree, and dessert, all for $20.
I,...

It's Burger Time!
I know I’ve written before about some of the monthly events that happen at the Delaney House, such as the Lift Your Spirits event and Martini, Manicure, and Massage night. However, something I seem to have overlooked thus far is the weekly special menus at The Mick. The Mick offers casual dining at the Delaney House, often with live music and a relaxed atmosphere always.
Almost any night...

The 4 course dinner and sampling of four beers is only $35. This is a great night out and an awesome...

The Grand Edna Williams ballroom was transformed for over 280 guests into an enchanting atmosphere to ring in not only a new couple, but the New Year as well.
Following a ceremony at Holy Cross church in Holyoke, where both bride and groom grew up...

Using The Knot’s list of 10 Winter Wedding Ideas, here’s a sure-fire way to make sure your wedding...

Fancy Steps
On November 13th at the Log Cabin, an event to benefit the Holyoke Children’s Museum took place. Local dancing stars took to the dance floor at the second annual “Fancysteps”. In the style of “Dancing with the Stars” police, firefighters, and even newscasters danced it out for a good cause.
In addition to the dancing and a silent auction, a fabulous dinner was...

A Wicked Birthday Bash
A recent 16th birthday party at the Log Cabin has really raised the bar. With a broadway theme, this birthday bash was unforgettable. So, let’s break it down. There were posters all over the room, centerpieces all based on playbills, pops of color, and an all around enchanting feel.
For the social hour, some awesome hors d’eouvres were served. There was, of course, the special...
Feeling the Punch
As promised, I’d like to talk about the recent boxing event held at the Log Cabin. At the event, there were several boxing bouts featuring the United States Military Academy vs. champion boxers from all over New England. A silent auction was also featured A portion of the proceeds went to a Northampton-based non-profit called Soldier on, which provides shelter, counseling, rehab and job...

Lighting Things Up
I’ve posted before on uplighting and CJC Event Lighting specifically, but it’s time once again to touch upon both of those things, briefly. Check out the pictures below for a recent wedding CJC did the uplighting for. The room looks completely transformed and the lights really complete the whole event. Make sure you contact CJC Event Lighting for all of your uplighting needs,...
Falvo/Labarre Wedding
In theme with our fall weddings, I have yet another to share. This big wedding at the Log Cabin was full of fun fall decor, and took place in the Grand Edna Williams Ballroom on October 17, 2010.
The first thing I definitely need to talk about is the decor! This wedding was full of pumpkins…97 of them, in fact! Located on the bar, gift table, windows, and all around, not one guest was...

This Wedding was In Tents!
In the spirit of Fall weddings, why not talk about actual weddings? The recent wedding at the tent at the Delaney House was elegant and fall inspired…check out the details below!

Falling in Love with Your Menu
So, you’ve decided on a fall wedding, you have your colors and you have ideas about favors…but what are you going to feed your guests? Well, food of course, but it’s all about getting your menu to fit in with your fall concept. Having a New England and fall inspired menu isn’t as difficult as some might think, just by picking the right options. Using the Log Cabin and...
Fall in Love
As Fall is finally in full swing in Western Massachusetts, I find myself thinking about Fall Weddings and some popular trends that come along with them. I’ve heard many people talk about how unsure they are about what they would do, but in reality, this season couldn’t be an easier time for a wedding. Especially in New England, the color scheme is made for you, just by looking outside...
Taking the Cake
To every wedding there are plenty of components, but one of the major ones is of course, the cake. Sometimes the hardest part is finding who will make your cake, and wondering if it’s going to come out the way you want. If you’re having your wedding at the Log Cabin or Delaney House, there is no need to worry. Our bakers, Mark Wikar and Pam Lawrence, know exactly what they are doing.

Rays of Hope Fundraiser
Now that you’re all caught up on what Rays of Hope is all about, it’s time for the party. The Five Rivers wine pairing dinner took place at the Log Cabin on September 16, 2010 with a list of 530 guests.
As guests entered the Log Cabin, they were welcomed by bag pipes being played on the porch. Following the entrance excitement was social hour at 5:30, where guests were welcomed into...
Rays of Hope
Straying a bit from the usual wedding-related posts, the next couple of posts are going to be a bit different, discussing Rays of Hope and the “Save a Goddess” event that recently took place at the Log Cabin. On this post, I’d like to talk about Rays of Hope, and what the organization is all about.

Burgess/Vight Wedding: The Reception
After a perfect outdoor ceremony, it was time for the reception. As guests made their way into the Easthampton room, they were greeted with the signature “Special Welcome” which includes a display of domestic and imported cheeses, fresh fruit, vegetables and dip, snack mix, and a variety of crackers. This all surrounded an ice sculpture which was specially designed by the groom,...

Burgess/Vight Wedding: The Ceremony
On a weekend that was threatened with a hurricane, April Burgess and Joshua Vight became Mr. and Mrs. Vight. As I’ve done previously, this wedding will become a series of posts dedicated to this couple and their big day. Instead of torrential rain and mighty gusts of wind, this couple was blessed with a beautiful and cool day up at the Log Cabin, complete with a gentle breeze during this...

The Ones Who Can't See Over the Bar
So, you’ve made the decision to invite children to your wedding. Now what? It’s hard to say how you can make the kids feel just as included as the adults, but really, it’s as simple as a few things.
First, the menu choices. Kid-friendly options will make little ones’ eyes light up. While adults may be drooling over gorgonzola sirloin, these words will make a kid go,...

Do Me a Favor...
When planning a wedding on a budget, the idea of favors may make your stomach turn. How can you afford something for every guest? How can you make it so your guests will like the favors they receive? It’s best not to over think here. Any couple on ANY budget can create favors that are exactly them, and fitting for their guests. Being on a budget doesn’t have to hinder the greatness of...
What in the world is a GOBO?!
After writing the post about uplighting, I started thinking about another popular trend in lighting that we are seeing all of the time…the gobo. The what you may ask? Some may think it’s some sort of fruit snack or yogurt (that’s Gogurt for the record…close though!) But no, the gobo may just be the thing to change your wedding.
The gobo is actually a custom metal plate...

Light up your wedding
Everything is planned and seems to be perfect, but something is still missing. You look around the ballroom where your wedding will be, and you search for what that “something” could be. How do you add that extra special touch to your wedding? The answer is more simple than you may think. It’s called uplighting.
(Above are pictures of the Grand Salon at The Delaney House...

The best thing The Knot lets brides do is add their two cents. There are forums and Q&A that let brides speak to brides and...
Buffet vs. Sit-Down: The battle continues...
So many times I have heard arguments over which is the better choice for a wedding, a buffet or a plated sit-down meal. The answer? Well, there isn’t really an answer. It all depends on you. The biggest misconception I have heard is that a buffet makes the wedding look cheap, or that it’s tacky. As I think about that statement, I find myself looking at weddings and events at the Log...
Wheeler/Plante Wedding: The Day After
After a night of dancing, eating and excitement you would think that there is no way this couple could have another event in them…but you thought wrong. The day after the reception, everything was brough to a close with a send off brunch at the Delaney House.
The sign of a great couple, in my opinion, is that they really are in this to not only make a weekend out of their wedding, but to...

Wheeler/Plante Wedding: Part 4!
When anyone goes to a wedding, their biggest concern, usually? The menu. They might’ve already chosen via a menu card with the invitation, or they could be thinking of disastrous combinations with a buffet. Luckily for the guests at this wedding, they’re attending an event at the Log Cabin, and this couple knows how to design an amazing menu.
Now, we’ve already seen their...

Wheeler/Plante wedding continued...
As we’ve seen thus far, this couple surely has no problem bringing out their personality through the menu at their rehearsal dinner, and as I’m sure you can all assume, they did that again at their reception’s social hour. This menu, while a bit more gourmet than their rehearsal dinner, still brought a flavor and flare all their own, while incorporating the Caribbean and summer...
Wheeler/Plante Wedding...part two!
You’d think it would be hard to top a rehearsal dinner like this couple had, but sure enough, they found a way. The next few entries will break down their reception at the Log Cabin, bit by bit. First…the decor and set up.
This summer wedding needed a theme that would wow the guests in attendance. At most any banquet facility, you have the standard centerpieces, chairs, set up, etc....

Wheeler/Plante Wedding
This is the first in a series of posts about a fantastic wedding recently held at the Log Cabin. This couple really took advantage of the “Your Day, Your Way” motto. That’s the best thing about a wedding. When you can take a space, menu, or otherwise and completely run with it and make it your own, you know you’re in for a GREAT wedding. This couple did just that.
